Nicky Chinn

Nicky Chinn
Bio:

Part of one the most successful songwriting duos in pop history, Nicky Chinn has compiled a song catalog that few can rival. He is known for such classic hits as “Ballroom Blitz” by Sweet, “Heart and Soul” by Huey Lewis and The News, “Better Be Good To Me” by Tina Turner, “Kiss You All Over” by Exile, “Stumblin’ In” by Suzi Quatro, and “Mickey” by Toni Basil.  For over a decade he and his songwriting partner, Mike Chapman, dominated the British and world-wide pop scenes with a constant stream of a top ten hits. Chinn and Chapman's success began when Sweet took “Funny Funny" up the UK charts; it was the first of the band’s twelve chart hits.  Chinn and Chapman immediately followed that success with their first UK #1, “Blockbuster”.  The duo achieved their first US hit with Sweet’s single, “Little Willy”.  Nicky Chinn has written for and produced artists such as Suzi Quatro (eleven hit singles, including two #1s), Mud (nine hit singles, including two #1s) and Smokie (nine hit singles, including the worldwide smash “Living Next Door To Alice”).

Recently, Westlife included "You Must Have Had A Broken Heart", written by Nicky and Jorgen Elofssonon, on their album, which debuted at #1 on the British pop charts. Also, Selena Gomez just recorded his song "Live Like There's No Tomorrow" for a featured spot in her upcoming 20th Century Fox film Ramona & Beezus. Switching genres, Nicky had a cut on the new comeback album from Donny and Marie with his song "Beautiful Life", produced by hitmaker Buddy Cannon. The album will be distributed exclusively at Walmart in the United States, and has already garnered huge presale numbers. On the other side of the Atlantic, Nicky has a cut on the upcoming album from pop star Jennifer Rush with "I Never Asked For An Angel".
