Tim
Finn was born in Te Awamutu, New Zealand
and is a founder of the highly successful pop and rock band Split Enz, which released a string of acclaimed albums during their initial twelve year run. While the band was on hiatus in 1983, Tim released the first of many successful solo albums,
which helped to make him a hugely successful commercial artist in
Australia and his native New Zealand. Tim and his
brother Neil began writing together
in the late 1980s and eventually formed
the hugely popular band Crowded House. Tim and Neil have also recorded
two albums as a duet, dubbing themselves the Finn Brothers.
Today, Tim is a a popular music icon in both Australia and New
Zealand. Recently, he wrote and recorded the critically acclaimed album Imaginary Kingdom, which he produced with fellow Ten Ten Music signee Bobby Huff. The album spawned the gorgeous composition “Winter
Light”, which was included as the endtitle song in the blockbuster film The Chronicles of Narnia. Tim's most recent album, The Conversation, is an introspective collection of delicately produced tracks and was recently released to glowing praise. Tim's songs have also been recorded by acclaimed artists including Richard Thompson and Jimmy Buffett and a feature length musical entitled Poor Boy, which features a full score of Tim's compositions, is set for a successful run thanks to the Sydney Theatre Company.
